SAR Based Flooded Area Detection (HASARD Flood Mapping)

The HASARD flood mapping service exploits pairs of Sentinel-1 images to rapidly and automatically produce flood extent maps 'on demand'. The users define their area and dates of interest and select two Sentinel-1 images representing, respectively, a so-called flood image and a dry reference. The algorithm maps all flooding-related changes between the two image acquisitions.

The flood mapping service can be applied at global scale to any pair of Sentinel-1 GRD images available in the catalogue (2014 –present).
